Amphitheatre Concert

Westoe Band opened the Summer Concert Ampitheatre season at South Shields sea front on Sunday 7th June.  The weather was not glorious sunshine but the rain held off and the band played an entertaining mixture of pieces including, Death or Glory, Highland Cathedral, Amazing Grace (W Himes), That's a Plenty, 12th Street Rag, Waters of Tyne, Jesus Loves Me (Stubbs), Share My Yoke, Local Hero and All Night Hooley in Glebe Street from Scottish Dances - Alan Fernie

 

The tradition of local bands playing at the South Shields Sea front stretches back over 100 years.  During the interval the band was approached by the parents of a former Westoe Band member who presented the band with a 78 rpm record of St Hilda's Band.  David Petherick (Band Manager) was very pleased to recieve the gift.  Westoe Band is preparing to celebrate its centenary and any local band memoribilla will be gratefully recieved and added to the band web site whenever possible.
