Starting University and looking for a band

If you are starting University in the North East and looking for a band to play with you will be very welcome at Westoe, we are flexible and will make a seat for you whatever you play.  We'll even pick you up from the nearest Metro station and our Chairman will buy you a pint (or three).

 
A new bandroom

From Tuesday 31st August Westoe Band will be rehearsing in the Harton and Westoe Miners' Welfare club.  The band has its own room for storage and will be using upstairs function room for playing.  This move restores the strong links between the band and its colliery origins.  As the band prepares for its centenary year in 2011 this improvement in facilities will be highly beneficial.  For the past few years the band has been using a Church Hall in Jarrow without any nearby storage for music.

 
South Shields Amphitheatre June 2010

Westoe band at the South Shields AmpitheatreWestoe Band performed the first of their concerts at the South Shields Ampitheatre on Sunday 20th June 2010. The band was blessed with fine weather for it's afternoon concert, and produced a fine selection of brass band music for the large audience at the sea front venue.

Len Old

It is with great regret I have to inform everyone of the death of Mr Leonard Old on the afternoon of 7th August. Len was secretary of the Trust for 25 years. Our thoughts and sympathy go to his widow Enid.

To Westoe Brass Band in Partnership with South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust web site.
Formerly the Westoe Colliery Band. Following the closure of the colliery in 1993 the Foundation Trust kindly offered to support the band and provide us with practice facilities.
