Westoe Band again supported the Durham Brass Band Association by competing in the Annual Entertainment Contest at the DLI Museum. This year, same as 2009, we won the prize for the best soloist Tom Cooke and came second in the contest one point behind GT Peterlee Band.

Westoe Band performed the first of their concerts at the South Shields Ampitheatre on Sunday 20th June 2010. The band was blessed with fine weather for it's afternoon concert, and produced a fine selection of brass band music for the large audience at the sea front venue.

To Westoe Brass Band in Partnership with South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust web site. Formerly the Westoe Colliery Band. Following the closure of the colliery in 1993 the Foundation Trust kindly offered to support the band and provide us with practice facilities.

This weekend Westoe Colliery Band led the Mayors Parade from the town hall to Saint Hilda's Church in South Shields.
The band led South Tyneside's new Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Tom Pigott and his wife Alma, as they headed the annual Mayor's Sunday Parade and Service.

Westoe Band members are a dedicated group of musicians and very welcoming of new players.
The band rehearse Tuesday evenings 7:30 till 9:30 and Sunday evenings 7:00 - 9:00 with the intention of producing the best possible performances both in the band room and public.
If you are local to South Tyneside or moving to the North East, perhaps starting University in Newcastle and want to continue your banding do contact us and come along for a blow.
We are currently looking for a Bb Bass Player, Soprano Cornet Player and a Percussionist to complete our line-up.
Whatever, you play if you want to join us for a rehearsal - you're welcome.
